Every Hour collects nothing. Effective October 2026.

In short

Every Hour collects nothing. Everything you choose, answer, or write stays on your iPhone. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking.

What is stored on your iPhone

Your settings, reminder schedule, and areas of growth; your examination answers, gratitude and resolution notes, intentions, and moments of prayer; prayers you write; items you save; and dates you record for Confession. Your reflections are kept in a file protected by your device passcode, so they are encrypted whenever your iPhone is locked.

What leaves your iPhone

Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. Every Hour has no servers and makes no network requests. The only thing that ever leaves your iPhone goes to your own Apple Watch, as described below. If you turn on “Include in iPhone Backups”, your reflections are included in the backups you make of your own iPhone (to iCloud or a computer), under Apple's protections and your control. You can turn this off in Settings.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your iPhone by iOS. By default they name only the hour of prayer. When you press and hold a reminder, it opens to that hour's Scripture and prayer, chosen only from areas that aren't private. If you choose to show Scripture on the Lock Screen, verses tied to areas of struggle are never shown. Your intentions never appear in a notification.

Apple Watch

If you install Every Hour on your Apple Watch, your iPhone shares with it, directly and with no server in between, only what the watch needs: your reminder hours, the areas of growth that aren't private, and which hours you've prayed. When you say Amen on your watch, it tells your iPhone. Your reflections, notes, and intentions never go to the watch.

App Lock

If you turn on App Lock, iOS checks your Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode. Every Hour never sees or stores your biometric data.

Your control

You can export everything as a file, delete all reflections, or erase the app entirely from Settings › Your Data. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your iPhone.

Children

Every Hour does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will appear in the app and on this website before it takes effect.
